The Academies by Harvard Student Agencies are on-campus academic enrichment programs for high school students, hosted in Harvard classrooms throughout the summer. Designed for motivated learners, these week-long programs run between June and August and offer an immersive academic experience across Business, Economics and Finance, Pre-Med, Government, and Coding. Students engage deeply with their chosen subject area through full-day sessions in a structured, interactive university-style learning environment.
Each Academy includes forty hours of programming, combining engaging lectures, keynote talks from professionals in the field, field trips, and a collaborative final project or presentation. Courses are taught by Harvard undergraduate mentors, giving students the opportunity to learn from and connect with current Harvard students while gaining insight into academic pathways and college life. Through hands-on, discussion-based instruction, students build both subject knowledge and critical thinking skills.
Beyond the classroom, the Academies emphasize community and connection. Students participate in on-campus experiences such as tours of Harvard College and graduate schools, guest speaker sessions, and panels focused on the college application process. Select programs also include academic field trips—such as government-focused visits to the Massachusetts State House—adding real-world context to classroom learning.
Students can choose from 10 distinct Academies, including Pre-Med: Biology & Chemistry, Pre-Med: Anatomy & Physiology, Government: Pre-Law, Government: International Politics, Business: Entrepreneurship, Business: Management & Strategy, Coding: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and Coding: Introduction to Python, among others. This range of offerings allows students to pursue their interests in depth while experiencing the rigor, mentorship, and collaborative spirit of university-level study.
