Course Description
Robotics is rapidly transforming industries spanning from healthcare, manufacturing, architecture, to space exploration, and more. In this course students will dive into the history and evolution of robotics to understand the building blocks of modern robotic innovations. Exploring the most recent trends including soft robotics, AI-driven automation, autonomous machines, and more, students will gain a deeper understanding of the principles behind robot design and function. Putting their knowledge to practice through hands-on projects, students will practice building and programming their own robotic systems, learning fundamental concepts such as circuitry, sensors, and mechanical design. Students will gain insight on a private tour of Berkeley’s industry-leading Engineering College. The course will culminate with a Capstone project where students will work in groups to identify a real-world problem and propose an innovative robotic solution. This course is ideal for students interested in STEM fields, providing an inspiring and engaging introduction to engineering and robotics innovations that are shaping the future. No prior robotics experience necessary.
*Supplemental course fee of $195 for lab and course materials.
