Advertising, Marketing, & Public Relations

Have you ever wondered how your favorite brands get your attention? In this fun and interactive course, you'll learn how companies use advertising, marketing, and public relations (PR) to share messages with the world. You’ll get to design your own brand, make commercials, and even practice writing for social media—all while working in teams and using your creativity. Learn how the creative and persuasive messages of advertising are effective when they are developed with a holistic marketing plan in place that helps identify how to speak to consumers (with the right message, in the right place, at the right time). The class is interactive, encouraging students to think critically and learn from one another. Through case studies, practical exercises, and real-world applications, students will gain the skills and foundational knowledge needed to understand marketing related and related fields.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

1. Understand core marketing principles and the relationship between advertising, marketing, and PR
2. Create a brand with a logo, slogan, and message.
3. Write and design a simple ad or social media post.
