Film Production

Students will learn the process of storyboarding and the function of various roles required to create their own short film… everything from cinematography to sound design. Pulling scenes from your favorite movies, students will experience first-hand what goes into pre-production and filmmaking. At the end of this course, students will have the ability to watch the movies they create. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a film enthusiast, or simply curious about the magic of the silver screen, this course offers a dynamic and interactive exploration into the world of film (in the heart of the entertainment capital).

Learning Outcomes

Upon Completing this course, students will be able to:

1. Create detailed storyboards and understand the planning process essential for pre-production in filmmaking.
2. Understand the various roles in film production, such as cinematography, sound design, and directing, and how these roles collaborate to create a cohesive film.
3. Apply the fundamentals of cinematography and sound design to enhance the visual and auditory experience of their short films.
4. Create and produce a short film, from conceptualizing the idea to shooting and editing the final product.
5. Critically analyze and learn from existing films, applying filmmaking techniques to their own projects in a practical, hands-on way.
