This interactive enrichment course introduces high school students to the core principles of business leadership. Students will explore what it means to lead in today’s fast-paced, global business environment. Topics will include leadership styles, team dynamics, ethical decision-making, entrepreneurship, communication strategies, and strategic thinking. Students will work in teams to develop and pitch a business idea, gaining firsthand experience in leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving. Whether you're considering a career in business or simply want to develop your leadership skills, this course provides the tools and confidence to lead with purpose and impact.

Instructor Bio
Jackie Silverman is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management and a leading researcher in consumer behavior and decision-making. She holds a PhD in Marketing from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania — consistently ranked among the top business schools in the world — and spent six years on faculty at the University of Delaware's Lerner College of Business before joining Owen. Her research explores how technology shapes everyday decisions, with a particular focus on behavioral tracking and how streaks influence motivation — work that is as relevant to aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders as it is groundbreaking in academia. She has published in top-tier journals including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Management Science, and Psychological Science, and her findings have been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Choiceology Podcast with Katy Milkman.
